The Acorns School
aims at giving our best to the children. We try to provide a secure
and yet homely atmosphere so that each child feels free to express
herself or himself. Our class ratios are small with the intention
of giving individual attention so that each child goes home with
special moments spent with the teacher alone.
We see the child as
an active learner who is curious to know about everything and
we strive to fulfill that curiosity by providing abundant experiences
that enable him to solve his own queries. We are always there
to support this learning experience from behind the curtains so
that the child enjoys exploring and discovering on his own. |

We see
the development of the child as a holistic experience and our curriculum
therefore caters to the physical, social, emotional, intellectual
and language development of the child. Our co-curricular activities
include swimming, sports, computers, music, dance, art and craft,
concerts and many more.

| We
encourage children to become aware that we are all different.
We come from different countries and yet belong to one
family. We, through example, teach respect and love
for different communities and nationalities. We are
proud to say that over the years we have had children
representing 48 different nationalities. |

Our
relationship with parents has always been a special one. There is
a wonderful spirit of partnership between staff and parents as we
work together to bring out the best in our child. Criticisms have
always been taken positively and we in turn encourage participation
and interest in our school. It culminates in the parent’s contribution
in putting together a dance or a cultural display for the children
which is enjoyed enormously by the whole school. Our days of concerts
and sport days are like family days where parents and school party
and celebrate as one big family. We are proud of our parents for
we are here for over 14 years because of their support. |

| Our
teachers are gifted with lots of love, patience and talent which
is felt in the air of Acorns. They build special bonds with each
of their students and are able to achieve all that is required of
their classes. The teachers are well prepared and well planned and
children love them , accept them and remember them even when they
are not in the school any more.
We do know that children
need to be told when certain things cannot be said or done and
we do so by following positive discipline. It has worked marvelously
with all the children who have studied in our school.
At the end of the
day we expect our children to be independent, able to express
themselves confidently, able to socialise with others and to blend
in harmony with whichever primary school he or she joins.
